A: Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) is the use of radio waves to read and capture information stored on a tag attached to an object.
Q: What type of tag is used?
A: It could be a card, bracelet, sticker or wearable. It depends on the request of the school.
Q: Can it be utilized for students that walk/bike/take public transport?
A: It is currently being used for walkers/bikers and other dismissal options but it currently is not used for public transportation.
Q: Will we be notified when our children reach certain checkpoints and destinations? If so, how?
A: As long as you subscribe to text messaging you will be notified on entry and exit of bus or the dismissal path from school.
Q: Where can I, as a parent, find the app?
A: The KYKS app is not a consumer app but there is a parent app that can be used in conjunction with the administrator app. The parent app is located on google play and apple store.
Q: Does it give real-time bus location?
A: No, the application is student-focused with no real time application for bus tracking.
Q: Can hackers find my child’s location through your system?
A: No, We do not track the cards or the students. For added security there is not enough information on the cards to trace back to a child.
Q: Will it be easy for my teachers and bus drivers to use?
A: Yes, it is as easy as using any phone.
Q: What makes you different from other student ridership companies?
A: No integration to the school system is needed and it is very flexible with the ability to be mobile.
Q: Are ID badges required to ride the bus?
A: No, but it is highly recommended for each student to have them for safety and efficiency reasons.
